WISTERIA
The eye-catcher for your home
Create a stylish eye-catcher for your home with this sewing tutorial from our Botanical Inspired Collection.
How it works:
Step 1
To make the wisteria, you will need L 11, paint, a pen, scissors, embroidery thread, a needle, a paintbrush and the template.
TIP: You can use batik, acrylic or watercolour paints, for example. Acrylic paint must be diluted well until it has a very fluid consistency.
Step 2
Dye L 11 and allow it to dry completely.
Step 3
Trace the flowers with a pencil and cut them out.
Step 4
Cut the smallest flowers in the lightest colour and make each larger flower one shade darker.
Step 5
Tie a knot at one end of the thread and insert the needle through the centre of the smallest flower from bottom to top.
Step 6
Insert the needle into the next flower from bottom to top and slide it onto the thread, leaving a little space between the flowers. Then insert the needle again right next to the first stitch from top to bottom.
Step 7
At the first stitch point, bring the thread up again to secure the flower in place.
Step 8
Start with the smallest flowers and finish with the largest ones. Thread several flowers of each colour onto the string.
Step 9
Continue threading flowers in this way until the strand reaches the desired length.
TIP: If the strands are different lengths, the wisteria will look more natural.
