VLIESELINE^®– milestones of the company history

1948

CONGRATULATIONS. The Viledon plant, part of the large Freudenberg complex in Weinheim, starts the production of a new iso-elastic nonwoven interlining: VLIESELINE^® is born.

 

1950

WELCOME. The Pellon Corporation in Massachusetts (USA) starts operations and produces interlinings under the name of PELLON.

 

1952

MANNEQUINS. The first fashion show for clothing professionals presents its models to an audience from fashion and industry.

 

1953

OPENING. The VLIESELINE^® Studio opens in the Alte Lackierfabrik [Old Painting Plant] in Weinheim, the first issue of VLIESELINE^® Modedienst [fashion service] is published.

 

1959

STRETCH. Production of the first multi-directional VLIESELINE^® collection starts.

 

1962

HOLA. In cooperation with Nontex S.A. in Spain, Freudenberg now also develops the Spanish interlining market under the brand name of FLISELINA.

 

1970

SSP. The convenient self-service packages of the VLIESELINE^® Self-Service range make their inroads into amateur fashion studios.

 

1972

PERFECT DOTS. The computer dot adhesive coating revolutionises the processing methods in the textile industry: Wavy moiré effects on the outer fabric are a thing of the past. 

 

1979

GLAMOUR. Princess Gracia Patricia of Monaco shows her enthusiasm about VLIESELINE^® Hemfix at the Intersew.

 

1990

MISS. With Christiane Stöcker, Miss Germany 1990, VLIESELINE^® wins a celebrity for advertising.

 

1998

ROUND. VLIESELINE^® celebrates its 50th birthday – and presents itself as successful as never before.

 

2010

AWARE. VLIESELINE^® launches products made of recycled fibres for the first time.   

 

2011

XL. Under the name of P 120, the first XL packs of voluminous wadding for large blankets, patchwork and quilting work appear.

 

2013

DREAM SCARF. In the context of an idea competition, VLIESELINE^® awards a prize to the 3 most creative scarfs self-made with VLIESELINE^®.

 

2015

DIY. The first do-it-yourself kit “Multi-Bag” with pre-cut VLIESELINE^® parts including instructions delights amateur needleworkers.

 

2019

FOLLOWER. On 15 April, the first VLIESELINE^® Instagram contribution goes online.

 

2021

EMBROIDERY HERO. Also suitable for embroidery beginners: The first DIY embroidery sample kit with 5 pieces of embroidery backing for testing.  

 

2022

5,000. A total of 5,000 followers are following the VLIESELINE^® account on Instagram on 16 September.

 

2023

ANNIVERSARY. VLIESELINE^® celebrates its 75th birthday.
