Step 1

You will need Style Vil Fix, Decovil I, Vliesofix, printed pocket pattern, fabrics, a press stud, scissors, yarns, a set square, cord and eyelets.

Step 2

Cut Style Vil Fix and the fabrics as indicated on the pattern. 2 x Style Vil Fix without seam allowance 2 x side panels made from outer fabric and inner fabric 1 x bottom/side panel made from outer fabric and inner fabric.

Step 3

Place Style Vil Fix on the wrong side of the fabric and fix with the help of a damp cloth. TIP: IRON-ON is very suitable for fixing.

Step 4

Place Decovil I with the adhesive side on the wrong side of the fabric and fix the outer fabric with the help of a pressing cloth.

Step 5

First iron Vliesofix onto the back of Decovil I, peel off the paper, cover with fabric and also fix with a pressing cloth.

Step 6

Now cut 12 diamonds from this. TIP: If you want the diamonds to be a different size, you can use a triangle to help you.

Step 7

Mark the centre of the front and back with tailor's chalk. The distance between the two corners is also marked on the diamonds, as shown in the picture. Place the diamonds on the front and back pieces as shown and sew them onto the centre of the marked line with a topstitch.

Step 8

Draw the quilting pattern on the front and back of the bag using tailor's chalk and a triangle and quilt it. TIP: Alternatively, you can also use the diamond pattern piece for this.

Step 9

The front and back sections are pinned to the ‘bottom and side sections’ and sewn together.

Step 10

The inner fabric is sewn together in the same way. TIP: A turning opening is not required here.

Step 11

Fold the top edge of the pocket 1 cm over to the wrong side and press. Iron the top edge of the inner fabric in the same way. Pin the pocket and the inner fabric together, wrong sides facing and sew together along the top edge.

Step 12

The press stud is sewn on the inside in the centre on both sides.

Step 13

Mark the position of the eyelets on the side and attach the eyelets. TIP: The position depends on the size of the eyelet.

Step 14

Thread the cord and tie a knot on the inside so that it cannot slip out.

Step 15

Alternatively, the cord can also be replaced with a ready-made bag strap. In this case, the fit of the eyelets must be adjusted to the size of the carabiner.
